Our Story
​
Supporting Loved Ones Through Terminal Illness and Raising a Child with Disabilities: The Personal Experiences Behind Ribbesford’s Commitment to Exceptional Home Care

Ribbesford’s directors bring deeply personal experience and commitment to their mission. Janice, one of the directors, has a son with disabilities, giving her first-hand understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and their families. Both Janice and Alex, Ribbesford’s other director, have also supported loved ones through terminal illness, providing them with a deep appreciation of the vital role home care plays in people’s lives.

Through these personal journeys, they both witnessed the stark difference between excellent care and unsafe care, highlighting the challenges of maintaining continuity and consistently high standards. This became especially significant when their loved ones were entirely dependent on Care Professionals to avoid mistakes, missed visits, or unexpected incidents that could put them at risk.
These experiences inspired a shared determination to ensure other families are never left to face poor-quality care, but instead receive safe, reliable, and compassionate support. The loss of their loved ones instilled in both Janice and Alex a lasting commitment to improving home care.
Alex spent a decade working within some of the UK’s leading home care companies, gaining insight into the realities of care delivery - seeing both best practices and the ways care can fall short. These years helped shape the vision and values at the core of Ribbesford.
